A brief description of the "copy content" feature.
A few of our clients have requested the ability to post items to multiple blogs. The copy content feature that was enabled on March 16, 2007 is our implementation of that request. The feature is enabled through a "Copy Content To..." link on the View Item page. It is only available to accounts that have more than one active blog. You can not copy content between accounts using this feature. To copy the content, simply click on the Copy Content To... link and a list of the available blogs will be shown. Select the blogs that you would like to copy the content to and press "submit". A new item will be created in each of those blogs with the title, description, metadata, and content of the current item. The copies can be worked with individually and an edit to an item in one blog will not affect any copies. For example, this item is a "follow up" to a copy of the System Status Blog item describing the change to the server. This follow up is only applied to the copy on the Technology blog not to the original item on the Status blog. The state of the blog will be maintained in the duplicates. These means that if the item that you copy is currently WORKING (e.g. you haven't submitted it yet) then the copies will also be in a WORKING state. This may be useful if you want to have a template that you can copy to multiple blogs and edit individually on each blog. More likely you will copy an ACTIVE item. The copies will also be ACTIVE except if the item has not been viewed by an editor and it is being copied to a blog that requires editor approval. In that case the item will be reset to SUBMITTED and will become active (or, possibly, rejected) once the editor has a chance to read it over.
