Interview with NPR Affiliate Now Available as Podcast

safeTspace co-founder Chris Hagenbuch’s interview on Baltimore NPR affiliate WYPR-FM can now be downloaded and listened to in its entirety here, courtesy of radio host Mario Armstrong who is promoting the interview on his Digital Café blog with the following introduction:

“MySpace, the largest social networking site with over 180 million profiles, revealed that 29,000 convicted sex offenders were found registered with its website. There is now a call for effective age and identity verification and parental permission for those under 18 to register with the site. Mario speaks with Chris Hagenbuch, formerly [with] the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, a cofounder of Maryland-based safeTspace, a consumer identity management solution for social networking communities.”

During the four-minute interview, Hagenbuch, father of twin daughters, describes how the concept for safeTspace came about, how the credentialing process works using fingerprint and facial recognition technology, and he shared tips for parents on other ways to protect their children while online.

The interview aired on WYPR’s Digital Café program – promoted as “exploring the intersection of technology and its impact to our society” – and was re-broadcast on the station’s sister station in Frederick, Md., WYPF-FM.
