Internet Pioneer Joins safeTspace Advisory Board

BALTIMORE, Md. (August 2, 2007) – Erin Jansen, a recognized Internet pioneer and founder of NetLingo.com, an Internet jargon and online communication reference guide based in Los Angeles, has been named to the Advisory Board for safeTspace, a consumer identity management company offering online security for users of social-networking sites.

NetLingo is a popular online dictionary specializing in explaining the terminology and jargon of the Internet and serving as a digital reference guide that helps millions of people around the world learn about the most commonly used words, phrases, smileys, and acronyms.

“Erin Jansen is a successful entrepreneur and a visionary and creative force in the digital world,” said Chris Hagenbuch, one of three founders of the Baltimore, Md.-based company. “As the newest member of the safeTspace Advisory Board, she brings a level of expertise and business savvy that will surely contribute to our firm’s ability to achieve our mission.”

Jansen has more than a decade of Internet experience. She holds a master’s degree from the London School of Economics in England and a bachelor’s degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, Calif.

"NetLingo is proud to partner with safeTspace because we are keenly aware of the need for their

kind of service,” Jansen said. "Those of us who track online communication on social networking sites have witnessed the increase in online predator activity and it is understandably a concern for parents and educators.

“While it's unfair to ban our children from the Internet and wrong to put the blame on social networking sites, it poses a conundrum for parents and educators who are looking for an affordable, reliable solution,” she said. “Parents can finally be confident that the children who are registered with safeTspace are securely protected while online. SafeTspace represents a milestone for the Internet industry and I am pleased to join their advisory board."

About safeTspace

Created by a team of government identity experts who are concerned parents with a background working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, safeTspace offers technology to keep unwanted adults out of social-networking sites by verifying each user's identity with fingerprint technology backed by an in-person registration process. In addition to identity and age verification, the safeTspace process obtains parental consent for users under 18 years old. The technology protects the child – and not the computer – allowing them to log on and be protected at any computer. While created initially for younger users of social networking sites and online communities, the technology can be used by anyone who has a need to protect their identity through fingerprint technology.
