Experienced Corporate Executive Named to safeTspace Advisory Board
BALTIMORE, Md. (November 5, 2007) – Janice Giannini, a recognized expert in working with C Level Executives and their teams to improve business results, has been named to the Advisory Board for safeTspace, a consumer identity management company offering online security for users of social-networking sites.
Janice brings 25 years of corporate executive expertise from General Electric, Lockheed Martin and Arbitron. She seamlessly mixes intelligence, intensity, a focus on the customer, and the ability to visualize the "big picture" with her ability to take big problems and break them into bite-size actionable elements Andrew Razumovsky, co-founder and CTO of safeTspace, said that they are thrilled to have someone with Janice's abilities to join their startup. Janice brings unparalleled experience building teams that focus on executable plans that address the changing environment. Adding Janice validates and empowers safeTspace's approach and leadership on the challenges of kid's safety in the Internet environment. While at GE, she turned around a $300 million dollar business unit's processes and culture from being reactive and parochial to proactive and strategic which resulted in the cost of doing business was cut in half and reversed operating losses. While at Lockheed Martin, Janice established a results driven technology allocation strategy which ultimately freed up financial, technical and human resources to enable what is now a billion-dollar enterprise. And most recently, Janice was EVP/CIO of Arbitron, a global information media company best known for its radio listener ratings. As an executive officer, she helped guide the company through a reverse spin, thus establishing itself as a separate company on the NYSE. Janice has both a B.S and M.S in Applied Mathematics from Drexel University. She has served on Boards of Directors for several non-profit educational institutions focused on adult literacy and post secondary education. I am proud to partner with safeTspace to enable the reality of providing a secure protected way for our children to engage on-line without fear of predatory behavior, Giannini said. Those of us who track online communication on social networking sites have witnessed the increase predator activity. This is a concern for parents as well as socially conscious individuals. The current environment poses a conundrum for parents and educators alike. What we want is a truly safe and secure way for our children, to benefit from the resources and diversity of opportunities online without fear. Parents can finally be confident that the children who are registered with safeTspace are securely protected while online. safeTspace represents a milestone for the Internet industry by providing an affordable, reliable solution to online identity management. I am pleased to join their Advisory Board. About safeTspace: Created by a team of government identity experts who are concerned parents with a background working with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, safeTspace offers technology to keep unwanted adults out of social-networking sites by verifying each user's identity with fingerprint technology backed by an in-person registration process. In addition to identity and age verification, the safeTspace process obtains parental consent for users under 18 years old. The technology protects the child and not the computer allowing them to log on and be protected at any computer. While created initially for younger users of social networking sites and online communities, the technology can be used by anyone who has a need to protect their identity through fingerprint technology.
