Women’s Heart Screenings

This screening includes blood pressure and cholesterol screenings, body composition analysis and a personal computerized risk assessment based upon results. Stacy Fisher, MD and Barbara Kircher, MD, cardiologists with LifeBridge Health, review results and provide individual recommendations. Fee: $5

Diabetes Self Management Series
Pt. 3 – Minimally Invasive Surgery & Wound Prevention/Care

Peter Geis, MD will discuss the benefits of minimally invasive surgery for diabetics, and Richard Franklin, MD will discuss wound prevention and wound care.

A trained cosmetologist provides trade secrets about make-up techniques and hair/wig styling for women currently undergoing chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment.

Medical experts will discuss non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Lunch will be served.

Women’s Health Week Celebration

Northwest Hospital’s Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center
In celebration of National Women's Health Week, the Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital Center encourages women to get a mammogram by offering extended hours on May 15. The Herman & Walter Samuelson Breast Care Center at Northwest Hospital will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 15. Giveaways will be provided to all women who have a mammogram that day. To schedule a mammogram, patients can call 410-521-5913.

Basic Medical Terminology

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Northwest Hospital’s Education Center
Held May 16, 23, 30 and June 6, 18, this 18-hour course provides participants with a basic understanding of terms commonly used in the field of medicine. Attendance at all five classes is required. Fee: $25 for materials.

May 18
Up in Smoke – Stop Smoking Program

6:30 PM – 7:30 PM
Northwest Hospital’s Education Center
This five-week quit smoking program, funded by the Baltimore County Health Department, is open to all Baltimore County residents and includes discussion on nicotine replacement (gum, patches, lozenges), behavioral modification and support.

AARP’s Driver Safety Program
9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
Northwest Hospital’s Education Center
This two-part class is a driving skills review for drivers 50+, and discusses the physical changes of the maturing driver and identifies ways for compensating. Call 410-521-5968 to register. Cost: $10 fee payable to AARP.
