Childhood fevers, bruises, shortness of breath. No big deal.

When children are sick or injured, usually a tissue, a bandage and a hug are all it takes for them to feel better. Most of the time, bruises, coughs and fevers are no big deal.

But what if, after several weeks, the bruises don’t go away? What if your child’s cough doesn’t stop, even after being treated with antibiotics? What if you can’t get the fever to go down?

Sometimes it could be a big deal. Bruises can be indicative of bleeding disorders. A stubborn cough could signal the onset of asthma. Persistent fevers can be a sign of a viral infection.

At The Children’s Hospital at Sinai in Baltimore, Maryland, we know from experience that sometimes the little problems can really be big deals. Our diverse and talented doctors, nurses and staff are dedicated to delivering complex, state-of-the-art medicine in a patient-friendly environment.
