One of our customers has an immediate need for a Senior Business Analyst. Our client is looking for a motivated, smart Business Analyst who wants to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment. This is an opportunity to join a small, but profitable and growing technology consulting firm working on high-profile projects with large well-known companies.

- Custom business applications
- Retail systems

The ideal candidate is a 'true' Business Analyst with experience working on web-based application development projects. The first assignment will be joining an in-house team working on a multi-year development effort consolidating and rewriting existing systems for a large, well known education and tutoring company. While a majority of time will be in the corporate HQ in Towson, this position will require up to 15% of the time interviewing users and gathering requirements on-site with the customer located in downtown Baltimore. In this role, the analyst will interact primarily with architects and developers, project managers and/or client representatives, as well as product stakeholders to ensure that all business requirements are met by the system.

Responsibilities

- Reviews, analyzes, and evaluates business systems and user needs.
- Writes detailed description of user needs, program functions, and steps required to develop or modify computer programs.
- Formulates and maintains brief use cases (and use case matrices).
- May lead and direct the work of others.
- Works with Project Lead to build the data dictionaries for Phase I.
- Coordinates and may assist in facilitating meetings with stakeholders.
- Assists QA Manager with testing as needed.
- Represents and champions the stakeholders' requirements to project team members.
- Drives for business decisions on project priorities.
- Supports user walkthrough sessions and other presentations as needed.

Education:
- College degree or equivalent preferred.

Experience:
- 4-6 years of defining, gathering, and writing detailed business and functional requirements and developing use cases is required.
- Two years in a client relationship management and/or lead in a technical field (e.g., programming, telecom/network, client/server).
- Experience should include working with internal and/or external clients to define detailed business and functional requirements.

Qualifications/Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Knowledge of .NET is a plus.
- Familiarity with relational database concepts, and client-server concepts.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Visio.
- Ability to write basic SQL queries.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team is mandatory
- Background in education/tutoring industry is a plus.
