Computer Services Tax...Member Survey Results

Computer Services Sales Tax Survey Results

GBTC Members:

As you know a new bill (SB1004), which would increase the income tax rate of high income earners, was recently introduced in the Maryland Senate. Last week, we asked you, our members, to take a survey to gauge your support for SB1004. The survey asked the question: “If you had a choice, and only this choice, between keeping the computer services tax on the books OR repealing the computer services tax and enacting the tax increase, per SB1004, which would you choose?

Overwhelmingly, 93% of our members support the repeal of the computer services tax and enacting the tax increase.

Yesterday we sent a letter to the following outlets throughout our region/State that lays out the results of the survey:

  • Governor O'Malley, Lt. Governor, Senate President (Miller), Speaker of the House (Busch), Senator Garagiola, and Secretary Edgerley
  • Members of the House Ways & Means and Senate Budget & Tax committees
  • Regional press contacts
  • Coalition Partners ("Fight the Tech Tax") - Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Tech Council of MD and Maryland Computer Services Association (MCSA)

Thank you for taking the time to respond, your participation is appreciated.  And please keep up your support for the repeal of the Tech Tax.

Best Regards,
Steve
