Yup, not only will you see long lines and big delays this time of the year at the major airports here in the United States, but now the State Department is now advising that you will also likely see very long lines at their offices where you would apply for a passport. The new rules for international travel now require anyone who is traveling beyond the boundaries of the United States, now including Mexico, Canada, and the Carribean, must have a valid passport to do so. As a result, with this time of the year usually being the busiest for passport application, the lines at their offices have been and are going to continue to be very, very long. Most importantly, the processing time is averaging about 10-weeks!  So, if you plan on any international travel this spring and summer, get going and make your passport application NOW!
