Pack a Pillow!
If you have to travel this summer, through about the end of August, you might want to pack a pillow. We have seen monstrous delays thus far during this “severe weather” season. Just last week, Atlanta experienced huge cancellations and saw hundreds of stranded passengers spend the night in the terminal and gate areas. We’ve seen similar scenarios in the “Big Apple” airports, Newark, LaGuardia, and JFK have battled their typically heavy, daily volume and en route thunderstorms to the tune of big delays most days so far this summer. Both Dallas and Houston have had a terrible start to this delay ridden summer thus far. And, of course, Chicago’s airports have been beaten up to the tune of 3 and 4 hour delays pretty regularly too. We are seeing a huge amount of flight cancellations at the very heavy hubs, and there isn’t any reason to believe that this trend will change anytime before September. So, if you are flying this summer, make yourself comfortable and pack that pillow! It will likely come in handy as you sit and wait for your flight to move…sometimes even overnight!
